They offer no advantage over bone spears. One odd exception though are Flint Spears. Better than Bone tools and by now you should have the flint stores to take advantage of this one.Better quality weapons can be very helpful as they aid in hunting and will allow you to hunt some of the more dangerous beasts as you try to continue growing your knowledge base by getting hunting as many species as possible. The first Food Drying Rack you build will gain you a knowledge point - consider it a refund.Building up food stores is always a good idea.Having said that here's my suggested order and my reasoning. Order of Unlocking Paleolithic TechnologyThe order of unlocking Paleolithic technology is up to you but I do strongly suggest getting the Food Drying Tech first. This should make it economically feasible to stockpile some old style weapons in order to get the "10 in stock" knowledge bonuses on weapons that you might otherwise just stop making. Remember that Traders will take obsolete weapons in trade.Trading excess food, older obsolete spears and harpoons for leather allowed me to have my village craft leather clothing that was cooler even though I'd not mastered Leather processing myself. I delayed leather processing and was short of raw skins as well. Some things that the traders offer CAN benefit your people even if the requisite techs have not been mastered.e.g straw and pulses are no good to any civ that hasn't mastered the related techs Be aware that traders will offer things that you cannot possibly use yet because their use requires technologies that you do not possess.A Trade Commission Rate of Average is 40%.A Trade Commission Rate of Low is 30% ?.While many traders have low commissions some have high commissions which can greatly inflate the price of what you buy. Traders charge a commission as you'll see in the trading screen. They may also have technologies on offer that can be unlocked without your having to spend your hard earned knowledge points. They represent a great way to improve the balance of your goods and possibly obtain some things you've not managed to unlock on your own. There are only 3 megaliths in sight though.A word about TradersTraders will visit your village from time to time. Ancient WarriorsĬanyon of slaughter: A huge flat area for agriculture and all types of mines are nearby, although for some it is necessary to build a bridge. My strategy is to focus quickly on mine upgrades to compensate lack of flint problem. The problem with this one is lack of flint.įor the rest, there is a lot of mines nearby, 6 megaliths that are not too far and a good flat surface. The Northlandsįrozen valley: It's not perfect, but I think all the starting places in this scenario have a problem. You can easily create many crop fields after cutting the trees, and there are mines of all types on the left side of the image and on the right side (after building a bridge).Īs a bonus, the abundance of rivers is perfect to do a lot of fishing. River fork: This one has 7 megaliths nearby. Note that all starting locations work and that there are probably some that are better than others early in the game due to the quantity of animals to hunt.īut I do not have the patience to start a game in all locations. Here is a suggestion for a good starting location in each scenario.
