Now that you've found the stud, run your hanger in the middle of it - at the height you want. Now you should be able to measure the distance from the hole to the side of the stud. Naturally, the inside leg is pointing in the opposite direction when it's up against the stud. Notice where the leg on your side of the wall in pointing. You will find that it'll stop against the stud. Slip the wire into the hole past the angle and turn. Make sure the legs are facing in opposite directions. (You can patch the hole later - if you like.) Fashion the wire in a "Z" config., but with the corners at right angles. Drill a hole through the plaster where the mirror will hang. But that's not the easiest thing to do on plaster walls.Īnother simple method that some of have used with success is with a length of stiff wire. (afaik.) You can purchase or borrow a deep sensor - which work fairly well. However, since you're dealing with a plaster wall, most ordinary sensors probably won't work. We know the word “install” might be intimidating but trust us, it’s easy.An electronic sensor will usually do it. With everything marked and measured, it’s time to install the drywall anchors. Make a mark for where the anchors will be located. Transfer that measurement to the wall by measuring down from the line you drew earlier.
